Important Question: The greatest ridiculous song lyric?

It's time once again for me to turn the microphone over to you, the reader, to help me address a little quandary that has recently locked up dangerously significant portions of my brain space.

Which of the following can fairly be declared the greatest line in the history of love songs?

Bruce Springsteen in Thunder Road: "You ain't a beauty but hey, you're alright."

or

Justin Timberlake in Like I Love You: "Here baby, hold my jacket."

Cast your vote below!

If by some chance, you think you can possibly beat these two contenders, feel free to let me know, and I'll take your candidate under consideration.

Anyway the thing is what I really mean

Those are good, Dan. Really good.

But I'm gonna have to through Ben Harper's 'The Woman in You'....
"the woman in you, puts the Worry in me."

That or the timeless Love song 'Ms. Fat Booty' by Mos Def......
'ass so phat, you can spot it from the Front....'

talk about endearing. Ah, Mos...you heartbreaker, you.

Well, the Springsteen is more like, "Well, you'll do."

One can easily see that Timberlake is wanting to take care of his jacket, which implies responsibility, which is a trait women look for in men.

I nominate Paul Anka in 'She's Having My Baby' with:

"Havin' my baby, what a lovely way of saying how much you love me...The seed inside ya, baby, do you feel it growin'?"

and

Van Halen in 'Why Can't This Be Love':

"Only time will tell if we stand the test of time."

I'm personally a fan of this line from the Usher song, 'Let's Make Love in This Club' (a classic!):

"It's goin down on aisle 3, I'll bag you like some groceries."

I like it, because it makes me think of grocery store sex, which is every woman's secret fantasy.

If I have to choose one of the 2 that you proposed, though, I'm going to go with Justin. Bruce is really just being honest with his lady, whereas it sounds like Justin is about to leave her in the corner with his coat while he goes and picks up some other girl.

i think i'll have to go with what clll said...

'Ms. Fat Booty' by Mos Def......
'ass so phat, you can spot it from the Front....'

and what does mos def mean anyway? mostly deaf?

wow.

Sass Pizzazz said...

@Natalie - 'def' is an old school way of saying 'cool.' Thus, Mos Def is the most cool.

Well, either that, or the coolest deaf person.

I have something special for you! Like a pedophile with candy, eh? Come see my blog.

Hmm. I think you need to spend a little more time listening to 80's music. Sometimes the lyrics actually physically hurt. And I kind of like The Boss's words. Rather insightful. So I'll vote for JT.

hold my jacket is probably the line most fitting to the way many men feel about their female companions. And far too many females would consider that akin to a declaration of love and a proposal to boot.

Of the two, I choose Justin.

There are so many many horrendous lyrics out there, a mere blog can hardly do them justice. As for your picks, as entertaining as JT is I don't think he'll stand the test of time like the Boss has.

So, Thursday night, game one.

Those are good, but right now my favorite is Sir MixALot's reprise on the Burger King commercial, "I like square butts...." touting the Spongebob toys in their kids' meals.

Timbaland: "can you handle me the way I'm are" (grammar not his forte, or... strained lyrics, anyone?)

Beyonce: "A diva is the female version of a hustler"

Man, I know I have more but for some reason I can't come up with any right now.

From the worst song ever writen "Never Been To Me", so bad it make me want to dig into my ear canals with a slim gardening tool:
"I've been to Paradise,
But I've never been to Me."

WTF? Where haven't you been? Have you gone to the toilet ever? Then you've been to 'you'. Stop complaining already.
