Take that, Thomas!

I just wanted to point out this story so you too could anxiously wait to find out to which of Thomas' friends from the island of Sodor we need to send flowers. It's too hard to call from the picture whether this tragic event struck Annie, Daisy, Clarabel, or another unlucky coach:

Angry Argentine commuters torch train in rush hour

"We understand that people get angry when the service is delayed or canceled, but they absolutely can't attack a public service in this way," Gustavo Gago, a spokesman for rail company TBA, told local television.

Now, we all know I hate to hone in on specifics at the expense of the big picture, but I think it's clear that people certainly can attack a public service in this way. I believe what he meant to say was, "Waaaa, waaa, waaaaa! Don't burn my f***ing trains!! ...pleeease."

I think the EL platforms are made of wood, are they not?

From the article: "Many passengers said the delays, caused by a broken down train, had cost them a day's work."

Maybe if the passengers would stop burning all the trains they wouldn't have so many delays...

So their reason for torching the train was "delays, caused by a broken down train, had cost them a day's work."... and they decide to set fire to it. How does that make sense? WTF?!?!?!?

There are some CUH-RAZY people in this world!

I hope it was Percy. He's so annoying.

I agree, I hope Percy went up in flames, he was the worst!

But they OUGHTN'T

Our poor friends on Sodor. I'm sure this is a day of mourning for them all. There won't be much Peep Peeping today.

These people seem to have very warped reasons for distruction!

At first I thought you were talking about Thomas the Train....phew!

Very interesting logic, indeed. I'm curious to see how many days of work they miss, now that TWO trains are out of commission.

Oh, god in heaven, am I the only one who thinks you are side-splitting hilarious? hahahha, I caught the "Can" immediately, since I am such a grammar geek! Thanks for oyur kind words on my blog today, BTW.

All they seem to accomplish was causing more of a delay. Maybe those commuters should cut back on the red bull!

Torching the trains seems a little counterproductive. Just sayin..

Middle Aged Woman: Just what are you trying to incite, madame? A riot? Good work.

James: But that's like asking the sun not to shine, or small children to stop kicking each other. Keep dreaming, hippie!

Shannon: It doesn't HAVE to make sense, lady... haven't you ever had the urge to burn something down and just said "To hell with the irony!"? If not, I suggest to you try. If so, then for shame.

Carolyn...Online and Brittany: Wow, when I close my eyes, I'm sensing a lot of resentment towards green trains.

Miss Grace: Oughtn't they, though?

small town city girl: I wonder how you solemnly "peep-peep". The first thing that came to mind, phonetically, was "poop-poop", but I'm pretty sure that's not right.

Swirl Girl: No, Thomas himself is safe... for now.

Andrea's Sweet Life: I think we'd all like to see a followup. And perhaps go down there to egg them on (from a safe distance).

Kori: No, you're one of two, with the other person being me. I'm looking to increase our club to three members, however-- any suggestions? My wife is a no-go-- I've been trying to crack that nut for years now.

MamaNeena and Kat: I think they all figured their day was pretty much shot at that point, and they wanted a good excuse for missing work that day (and probably the next few)-- being victimized by a bunch of crazy rioters while of course calling for quiet and calm.

Oh man, I hope it was Percy. He's such a whiner.

I love how casual the guy they quoted is. It's like he's admonishing someone for leaving their glass on the coffee table without a coaster.

LiteralDan said...

Momo Fali: Wow, and the Percy-hate train rolls on!

thegirlof510: Well put, and I totally agree. But then, what do you say to something like that?

I am so glad we have a good bus system here and no crazy bus burners if one of them runs late!

A character I would want offed would be the annoying whiney little boy with a weird name on channel 11. That little brat taught my niece to whine and other bad lessons. Whoever writes that show is a total idiot and doesn't know how little kids work, they showcase the bad behavior and by the end have it resolved and it has a good moral. What they fail to realize is that small children are highly distractable and usually lose interest before the lesson is complete. Oh and spongebob and most of the characters on that show need to go too. I better stop now, my hit list is long enough to start making me look mentally disturbed or something...

Crazy bus burners, or visionary bus burners? Sorry if I just blew your mind.

We don't really watch any kids' TV shows (just kids' movies), but I believe you're talking about Caillou. I've heard similarly awful things about him from other people, and that's one of the reasons I like to keep the cross-promotional Pandora's Box of children's television firmly shut 'round these parts.

You have my sympathy and understanding, but know that I will be honor-bound to report you as a possible suspect should any cartoon or puppet characters turn up dead somewhere. Don't worry, though-- you'll have millions of co-suspects.

The Microblogologist said...

My mind was blown long ago, ha ha. Yes I am talking about that vile little brat Caillou, I just forget how to spell his name and was too lazy to google it. You are very very wise to not expose your offspring to that nonsense. Kids naturally develop annoying traits, why give them a how-to guide?

If I get thrown in jail you'll have to post my blog posts that I get smuggled out on scraps of toilet paper...

LiteralDan said...

Hopefully unused... tell you what, how about I just buy up some original Caillou animation cels off eBay and mail them to you in jail? You know, to make sure you can save plenty of toilet paper on which to write those posts.
