The DTs are now the LDs*

I have a potentially tragic announcement. Are you ready? Have you braced yourselves?

I'll be camping in the wilds of Minnesota** all next week. Starting today, in fact. That's right, folks-- I'll be going without The Internet for a whole week for the first time in a very long time. Needless to say, in using this blog as my primary writing practice tool, I have amped up my time spent online to an unhealthy degree, so this crash will likely hit me hard.

But I'm sure it's for the best-- it must be for the best, because otherwise I will have been tortured for nothing. Then I'd have to rival Mr. Charlton Heston (R.I.P.) in my tantrum-ry by falling to the ground, cursing the cruel world, and telling whoever is kind enough to help to get their filthy hands off me. Then I'd likely sail right over the top by demanding they let my kbps go and screaming something unintelligible about Soylent Green.

Anyway, what you have to look forward to in my absence are a few short posts set to appear on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and possibly two post-free days after that, while I try to get my act back together. I'll probably have to skip replying to your comments for this coming week, unfortunately, but I did finally post replies to the past few posts yesterday-- check them out if you're so inclined (or bored waiting for a new post to appear).

I fear opening my blog feed reader after a week away. My deepest apologies if I seem to have forgotten any of you for awhile-- I'll be catching up as best I can whenever I can!

* In case this title makes no sense, because it's late right now, LD of course equals LiteralDan, and DT equals Oscar gold!

** Also known as "Minnestoa" to typing fingers everywhere.

Bring me back a grizzly bear heart that you cut out yourself and you'll be forgiven.

Have fun :) I used to love going camping with my family when I was a kid. It was always so much fun.

Have Fun!

As I took a week off and then just about vomited when I saw the number of unread items in my reader, I give you this advice:
Read everyone's most recent, and mark all as read.

Coming back after that will feel like you just cleaned the house!

Have a blast! The internet will still be here when you get back.

When I go on vacation, the first thing I do when I get back is hit "mark all as read" on my feed reader. And it feels so dirty and good.

At least it coincides with my cutting-way-back-time. Really, I am. I swears.

Hurry back - mind your precious fingers as you take hooks out of fish, start fires, hammer tent posts into the ground, and such ... just one week, right ... ok, i think i can manage.

I should try a week offline ... to see if I can or if I need IA (internet anonymous).

God Speed, LD!

I expect some rather vivid stories when you return...at least one involving a wild animal of some description...and no Bigfoot! Some guys in Georgia apparently found his carcass today.

Shit. That's like telling me I have to stop reading my favorite book.

No but really have fun, and try not to comeback with a nervous twitch, or a critter of some sort in your trunk!

I just discovered your blog only to find that you're abandoning it to commune with nature?! Ah well--I went a week without internet in Mexico this spring--was shocked to find out there actually was wireless where I was, so turned off the wireless switch on my laptop--there weren't any newspapers or TV's around either, so I had no idea what was going on in the world until I came back home and...what was the first thing I saw when I got on-line...a pregnant man. Enjoy your time away.

Enjoy your holiday LiteralDan!

Rest those weary hands-pee in the woods-be with nature.

The stress of catching up when you get back-yikes! I'm still not caught up. My reader remains full-and I can't remember where I have commented. Aahh!

I need a vacation from my vacation.

Oh yeah-this is about you. Have a great time with your family!

I WOULD pick this week to get addicted to your blog.

I guess this means I'll be reading EVERYTHING YOU EVER WROTE BEFORE THIS while your gone. Try not to get too freaked out about that.

While you're gone. YOU'RE.

Way to leave an impression, Renee.

Camping. As in outdoors? With tents? Bugs? Nature?

Is that really necessary?

Well then, if so, I wish you safe journey.

Have fun . . . um, I mean it.

I'll just stay here. Curled up on the couch watching NATURE on Discovery. :)

Maybe I'll even make a s'more . . . in the microwave.

What? I'm back, you're gone?! Not fair! Well, alright...I guess you deserve a little rest & relaxation once in a while...maybe you'll come back with some bear stories or something...

Seriously, have a great time! :) We'll miss ya.

Wow, thanks for all the expressions of deep existential angst at my departure-- it just warms my black little heart. Your pain and torment feed my ego and push me to greater and greater heights (or lows), particularly that of sarah, YogaforCynics, and Renee, since I'm always in the market for fresh blood. Welcome!

And Renee, you've left a wonderful impression, because those comments were priceless. I think we're infected with the same dual afflictions of clumsy fingers and obsessive personalities-- some people would let a typo like that go, while others never could, at least not without physical pain. Guess which kind we are??
