Looked for you in the Grant Park pictures, but some guy was in the way.
bah humbug.
YES WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoot-whoot!
I kept watching the rally last night and thinking "Man, LiteralDan is THERE!".
You witnessed history last night.
I expect a full update after you have had some shut eye.
Thank you for your compliance. ;)
I'm with Rikki - we want details on how it felt to be there!
Of course, with my sincerest apologies to MamaNeena - you know I love you, girl!
WOO HOO! I'm still pumped up from yesterday. This is absolutely amazing.
I'm one of those happy people even though I wasn't at the rally.
Amen, Dan, Amen.
I was all, Dan's there! And my hubby was all, Who's Dan?
Is it too much to ask that my husband keep up with my internet friends?!
Just tell me how close you were to Oprah!
I looked for you on tv. Even though I don't know what you look like.
I looked for a guy peeking out of a blue box...didn't see one.
I am just glad it's all over - now it's up to him to follow through.
I must admit I am little nervous for him.
just watching on TV I was choked up knowing it was history in the making.
This day was a long time coming... Glad to have hope, and looking forward to change!
You were in Grant Park!!!??? You bastard. I'm jealous.
omg. I can't BELIEVE you were there. That is just so DAMN cool!!!!
life is good.
Wow-what a moment of history.
I am jealous! Were you able to take pictures?
When I see news clips I will look for one-eyed Dan....
Were you there? I imagine it had to be awe-inspiring live because it sure was on the boobtube.
It still feels so good. I think January 20 is going to be very special.
YES WE DID! I cried while watching CNN and the announcement was made. I have never been so proud of my country. I am thrilled beyond words.
So so completely awesome that you were there!! What an experience! Man, I just can't wait until January!! For once we will have a president that we don't have to be embarrassed of.
I am insanely jealous that you were there. His speech was very moving.
Middle Aged Woman: I paid two people to stand a few inches apart right in front of me, so I could peek out from between them, in that way I do.
MamaNeena: I"m sorry for your loss. Are we still imaginary friends?
Christy: You sound like one of the people screaming in my ear Tuesday night.
Rikki: Glad you were thinking of me. I was telling Oprah that night, "Man, Rikki is WATCHING this right now!" ;-)
As for the update, I have no idea what to say-- hence no post yesterday. I'm gonna give it a try quickly since I'm already up way too late as it is.
Andrea's Sweet Life: See above about the update I swear I will post. And I sent my own sincerest apologies to MamaNeena, and the same goes for Russ (who I believe was a McCain supporter) and any of the rest of you folks out there.
I hope I haven't irritated you guys too terribly with my Obama-related posts in these past few heady months. I just couldn't keep it in all the time!
Mary: If it makes you feel any better, I was shut out of the so-called Official Rally, and was left to watch an enormous TV just outside of it, with 200,000 of my new closest friends.
Kori: Do I get an unleavened biscuit now?
ali: I'm insulted that your husband doesn't know who I am! What, has he been living under a rock for the past 10 months??? Or out in the open air, away from the computer??? Or on the computer a lot, but only at the top 80,000 blogs??? Ridiculous.
And no, no it's not too much to ask. Now please do me the same courtesy and tell that to my wife.
Threeboys1mommy: You don't want to know, and not for the good reason. In case you really do want to know, I'd guess half a mile of nearly continuous humanity.
Goldfish and miko564: That's no excuse! If you'd have seen me, and you were true believers, you would have been awed by the shaft of light beaming down from the heavens onto me.
And you would not have listened to disbelievers insisting it was just the Connie's Pizza Helicopter having me arrested for bringing in outside food.
SwirlGirl: I think we're all at least a little nervous, but I also think he's shown he can handle it. We'll take care of our end while he takes care of his, I hope.
Casey, überburber, Raging Dad, Weith Kick, Vodka Mom, Andrea, Laggin, Rachel, and Joe: I'm not gonna lie to you, it was just awesome. Humbling, too.
Kmommy: I couldn't agree more. And to be fair, I felt the same way about Clinton. What a naive fool I was thinking he was the worst it would get in my lifetime!
Walking through the White House on a super-cool behind-the-scenes tour one night during his presidency, a big part of me was glad we didn't bump into him, because I wasn't sure I could look him straight in the face. The only part of me that was disappointed was the part that said, "Hey, it's the President."
That part of me died about 7 years ago. I'm looking forward to rekindling it.
Geez, no kidding. How many days left until Jan 20th?
Given my assigned nickname, I feel compelled to answer your rhetorical question with the answer: 73 days, as of today.
I don't want to sound negative but before we sing a victory song we have to see the results of his work, then we could see if people were right.
Oh that's not negative at all-- it's practical, and I agree completely.
I'm already tired of talking about all this, though I understand the need to decompress after almost 2 years of official buildup. I just want to move on to fixing this mess we're in.
