"You like me, you really like me!"

Well, the long national nightmare is over. We finally have winners in all categories at The Best of Blogs, and I am fortunate enough to have come out on top as having the Best Daddy Blog as determined by a very unscientific voting pool.

I don't think I need to say too much more beyond expressing my genuine gratitude in the sticky post above*, without sounding more annoyingly redundant than usual.

I'll move on now instead to more important matters: if you're looking for worthy additions to your blog list, please consider the other nominees in this category, several of which I now read regularly:

African-American Dad
The Life of a Father of Five
Daddy’s Little Tax Credits
The King of Clubs
AtHomeDaddy
Stuff In My Brain
Dad's House
Baby Daddy
DIY Father

And don't forget to also check out the blog of the coordinator of The Best of Blogs-- The Adventures of Charlie Blockhead. That guy has a lot on his plate even aside from running this contest, but he pulled it off in style.

* Edited to add the text of the announcement from June 3:

Breaking news: Thanks to all of your collective dedication, LiteralDan has won the Best Daddy Blog award at the Best of Blogs. So you may stop voting now, my legion of a couple dozen or so minions.

While the voting may be over, my implied but not guaranteed exchange of a FREE TOTE BAG for a blood oath to join my unholy army and patiently await the day I command you to take up arms in my name is still very much on the table!

Seriously though, I want to thank you all once again, and I urge you to check out my fellow nominees, listed and linked in this post. [Referring of course to this post, which you've just read]

Congrats! It's well deserved and I'll go right away and check out the other blogs.

By the way, before I leave work today, I'll have a post up about your blog. I really want to try to stick to my word about posting about other blogs and you're first up on my list. But only because I'm trying to climb my way up the minion ladder. I should be pretty close to the top now, right?

Congratulations! It's a well deserved honor and your efforts to spread the word on other blogs is much appreciated. They make for good and fun reading.

Congrats on the win! It is well deserved. You have no idea how excited I am that I came in second. That's good enough for me, especially considering that I desperately need to post more.

Oh sure! Just what I need...more blogs to read! Okay, I'll check them out, but my family is going to have to go without clean underwear, unless you're going to come over and do the laundry.

Yay - congratulations!! I knew you were a shoe-in!

More blogs to add to my reader, huh? Well, I did pledge by undying loyalty. I'll have to go and check them out!

Congrats!

I just stumbled here through mama dawg and wow! Glad I came by!

Also, I am about to become a SAHM to my almost 4-year-old boy and my 1-year-old girl. We should totally have a play date or something. Is that what people who don't work outside the home do? I don't really know.

Anyway, "hi" and CONGRAULATIONS!

A well deserved award my friend... Bask in the glory!

Mama Dawg: I can't thank you enough for all the kind words in your post. As for your scheme, no one appreciates a suck-up. No one, that is, but me. You're pretty high up the ladder now. And hey, you posted the first comment today, so you make a pretty convincing case for yourself.

What about the rest of you?? What can YOU do for me? Start thinking of your life in that context, and get back to me after I receive all your praise, favors, tributes, and gifts to see where you stand.

Momo Fali: Your family going without clean underwear is a sacrifice I'm willing to make, but coming over to do the laundry myself is not. Or at least, folding the laundry isn't. I hate that part.

Mona, TentCamper, Mrs. Romero, and Kandace: Hello and welcome! Glad you've enjoyed yourselves so far-- come again!

The Father of Five and dadshouse: You guys have great blogs and were certainly worthy competitors-- I hope you get lots of traffic from this contest so more people can see that for themselves.

Everyone else: Thanks for commenting with congratulations-- I feel like I just had another baby or something! (Somewhere in an alternate universe, the Dan that's dreaming this life just woke up with a shock, wearing a look of terror at the thought of never getting to sleep through the night again.)

You're all too kind, and I'm glad you're all around keeping me writing each day-- if no one was reading, I'd probably let Lady Procrastination take back over. Thanks again!

Congrats! This is my first time visiting...look forward to reading more!

Hi Chris-- Welcome! Glad to have you aboard!

Congrats. I think this is my first time over here, but you know, I slept UNTIL 8 this morning, so I may have forgotten some things over night.

I just had to rub that in, since I can't really brag up my 4th place finish.

LiteralDan said...

Ahh! Stop rubbing it in, or I'm gonna tell my mom.

And hey, 4th place isn't so bad, considering there were at least 30 blogs entered originally, by my count.

What matters most is that your blog is funny, and today's post is just great.

Doesn't surprise me at all; Congratulations!!!
